What’s so special

Introduced in 1956, the Longines Silver Arrow was a stylish men’s watch named after the Mercedes race cars of the same mid-century period. The Silver Arrow was a classic three-handed watch featuring an overall simple, elegant design, with some interesting design characteristics that gave it a bit of an Art Deco era style. These elements included the softly domed sunburst dial, the polished alpha hands, and the interesting fluted hour markers that are applied on the dial. The crown is signed Longines. Making the Silver Arrow unique is the supersonic airplane flying through the stars embossed on the caseback.

About this example

For being over 60 years old this timepiece is in remarkable condition. The dial is in good condition with some patina, and believed to be fairly rare in this grey sunburst color. The indices are in excellent condition, and the original polished steel hands are in good condition. The crown is signed Longines and is believed to be original. The movement is freshly serviced and showing excellent numbers on the timegrapher. The date quickset works by rapidly moving the hands from 9pm to 12pm. The airplane and stars is just barely visible on the caseback. Overall a gorgeous, stylish example of a late 50s vintage Longines time piece.
