What’s so special
The MIL-W-76374B military specification was produced in 7 revisions and sourced from several manufacturers such as Hamilton, Benrus, and Timex. Revision B included the addition of a radiation symbol on the dial and the H3 to indicate the use of tritium for lume. The B revision was introduced just as the US exited Vietnam and was issued to US Army soldiers in the Gulf and Korean wars. It was one of the last revisions to feature a fully stainless steel construction and a serviceable manual wind movement.
Why SWC loves it
Such a cool dial! Note that despite the radioactive symbol on this watch, it is lumed with Tritium. It does not pose any of the same risks radium dials do. Fitted with a robust, easy to service manual wind movement, and a bold, dead-simple, aircraft-instrument-legible dial, these watches are the definition of utilitarian. In our opinion, we’d pick wearing one of these any day over the Hamilton field watch that reference would go on to inspire many years later. These Mil-spec watches are becoming harder and harder to find and are a remarkable part of history.
About this example
This example comes to you freshly serviced and in good authentic condition. The dial and hands are authentic and wonderfully preserved. The parkerized case and crown are in good condition. The lume has faded to a wonderful cream color that looks quite handsome. Comes on a brand new blue and tan nato strap. Keeping excellent time for this movement grade. These later B models are difficult to find in good condition and this example does not disappoint.
